Barry was born in Blackfoot, Idaho and raised in the small farming community of Groveland, ID just outside of Blackfoot. His first paying job was at his father’s grain mill where, at the age of four, he sewed sacks for a penny each.
In High School, he was active in sports and music. He played in all the bands (marching, concert, etc.) and lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. His senior year he graduated a semester early and started his college career at Ricks College, now known as BYU Idaho. The next fall Barry started at Brigham Young University, where he completed a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1982. He then taught school in the Utah public school system for over 28 years. The first two years were served in the Duchesne County School District and the remaining 26 in the Nebo School District.
Since retiring from teaching school in 2009, Barry got his Life and Health Insurance licenses and became a Benefit Advisor for Extend Health (now Via Benefits) where he is able to help retirees transition into Medicare. Not long after that he got his Series 65 license and started with Global View Capital Management. He also taught part time for a year at South Park Academy, the High School located at the Utah State Prison.
Barry loves helping people and finds great satisfaction in assisting them with their insurance, investment, and financial planning needs.
